Job Title: Driver Recruitment & Training School Manager

Based: Ballymount Depot, Dublin 12

Reporting to: Head of People

 

Purpose: The role is responsible for the overall development of our internal driving training school programme while also providing support to the recruitment department to ensure that all training and recruitment activities within Go-Ahead Ireland are delivered to an exceptional standard and to support the trainee journey.

 

Key Responsibilities and tasks

  • Manage the driver recruitment lifecycle process and to lead, support and develop the teams within both the Recruitment and Training Departments.
  • Oversee the driver training school with ensuring all training modules are being delivered in line with compliance and expectations. 
  • Oversee management of the trainees within the training school.
  • Oversee the Management of the ADI and classroom training team.
  • Day to day management of the recruitment team.
  • Manage 3rd party relationships in line with the driver trainee programme. 
  • To ensure that there is a continuous recruitment of Qualified and Trainee Drivers so that establishment figures are met.
  • To always ensure that recruitment standards and legislation is followed and maintained.
  • Maintain the driver recruitment process with all advertising campaigns and 3rd party relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with the operational team to ensure a cohesive approach to establishment/driver colleague requirements and turnover.
  • Support the Head of People in delivery of the Go-Ahead Women campaign to achieve local and group targets, as well as design and delivery of focused campaigns.
  • Provide feedback and report on all recruitment campaigns to head of people.
  • Provide monthly stats for review on all aspects of recruitment with detailed information on pipeline of applicants for driver pool.
  • Understanding and knowledge of visa requirements for applicants applying for driving positions.
  • Work alongside Project Team regarding forecasting for future driver colleague requirements based on contract wins and Bus connect projects.
  • Support the Risk Manager and Operations team with developing mentoring programmes to provide training guidance and departmental support with the ADI team.
  • Monitoring and being aware of changes in company and or legislative requirements and ensuring that changes to the recruitment and training programme and processes are planned and implemented wherever possible in advance of any changes coming into place.
  • Ensuring a comprehensive training programme is designed and continually maintained covering all aspects of the driver training programme.
  • Ensure that working practices are challenged through positive learning experiences through professional, structured, and ongoing training to ensure the quality of work is continually improved within all aspects of the company.
  • Ensuring that detailed training materials exist to support the training activities undertaken, including but not limited to employee workbooks, lesson plans, presentations, sign off forms and learning materials.
  • Evaluate and support the development of all driver colleagues within the organisation to ensure the highest standards are achieved, maintained, and improved.

 

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Proven experience demonstrated in a fast-paced recruitment role with new starter targets.
  • Proven experience within a training role including designing and implement training programmes.
  • An understanding of group 2 licence requirements, restrictions and CPC requirements
  • An understanding of RSA policies / procedures and best practice developments.  
  • Managing multiple teams.
  • Experience in delivery of training material.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
  • Experience of reporting on KPIs
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of in-house training programmes
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships within the organisation and with external 3rd parties.
  • Experience of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organisational and administrational skills.
  • Ability to liaise and work with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under own initiative or under instruction.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the bus industry

 

General Safety Responsibilities:
