Graduate Engineer

Job Title: Graduate Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reporting To: Engineering Manager
Location: Ballymount


Purpose: To join the business development programme, to learn to supervise the vehicle repair activity, developing the skills require to be part of the future supervisors and management team within GAI. Ensuring that a high-quality repair of the fleet is always maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities and to be covered tasks as part of the programme

  • Understand the day to day needs of the engineering department
  • Experience working across all engineering shifts and departments to get a full understanding of the operation
  • Develop the people skills required to supervise the maintenance team
  • Undertake a thorough and detailed examination of the fleet in accordance with legal and company standards.
  • Understand all regulatory requirements required to operate the department
  • Communicate effectively with operational staff and other engineering colleagues
  • Carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Engineering Manager or other engineering management staff.
  • Be prepared to work the hours necessary to complete tasks required to achieve projects or tasks assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


Essential:

  • Mech Eng degree or similar
  • Mechanical engineering vocational qualification at EQF Level 4 or 5 Training qualification.
  •  

Desirable:

  • Clean and valid D licence.

Key Safety Responsibilities:
To act in a manner as to ensure the health, safety, welfare, environment and fire safety of yourself and others in the organisation as well as any clients and visitors.
Ensure that you and any guests to any company premises understand emergency and evacuation arrangements.
Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. To act proactively in identifying and any unsafe practices or safety risks in the organisation and reporting these through the appropriate channels.
Ensure adherence to all relevant company and Go-Ahead group company policies and procedures.
