Job Title: Panel Beater

Department: Engineering

Reporting To: Workshop Controller

Location: Ballymount

Purpose: To repair and maintain company vehicles to the standard required by the Company to achieve maximum vehicle availability. To be responsible for working in a safe manner as stated in current legislation and company policies and procedures

 

Key Responsibilities and tasks

· Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair all company vehicles including buses and vans.

· Undertake a thorough and detailed examination of the fleet in accordance with legal and company standards.

· Record all defects and corrective action in a clear and concise manner.

· Work effectively under minimal supervision.

· Communicate effectively with operational staff and other engineering colleagues

· Carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Workshop Controller or any other supervisor.

· Be prepared to work the hours necessary to complete tasks required to achieve Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR).

· Carry out routine and unplanned minor and major body repair.

· Prepare vehicles for external campaign work such as repaints and interior trim replacements.

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Essential:

· Ability to understand and execute training and instruction.

· Ability to operate safely in a workshop environment.

· Clean and valid B licence.

Desirable:

· Clean and valid D licence.

· Ability to install glass.

· Highly motivated

· Has a demonstrable engineering background within the Passenger Carrying or Heavy Vehicle sector

· Ability to work autonomously

Key Safety Responsibilities:

To act in a manner as to ensure the health, safety, welfare, environment and fire safety of yourself and others in the organisation as well as any clients and visitors.

Ensure that you and any guests to any company premises understand emergency and evacuation arrangements.

Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. To act proactively in identifying and any unsafe practices or safety risks in the organisation and reporting these through the appropriate channels.

Ensure adherence to all relevant company and Go-Ahead group company policies and procedures.
