Public transport returns to full capacity from 1st of September


The National Transport Authority have announced that public transport will return to 100% capacity from the 1st of September, with seating no longer blocked off on-board.

We are looking forward to welcoming all passengers back on to our services. Customer and colleague safety remains of the upmost priority and the following provisions will remain in place on all services:

· The wearing of a face-covering on all services remains mandatory.

· GAI will continue daily cleaning regimes on its fleet of buses.

· Hand sanitizer is available on-board buses and at stops for passengers.

· Ensuring that windows remain open to ensure consistent airflow.

· Passengers are encouraged to continue to use Leap Card and other cashless payments where possible.


Commenting on the increased capacity, Andrew Edwards Managing Director of Go-Ahead Ireland stated, “We are delighted to once again offer the public a full capacity service across all of our routes. We have worked closely with the NTA and relevant authorities since the pandemic impacted, ensuring we adjust our services to meet the needs of the public, and above all else to introduce measures to protect service users and our staff.

While there is every reason to be cautiously optimistic, we will still require passengers to wear face coverings at all times and we will continue our enhanced cleaning and sanitisation programme across our fleet, and where possible, we ask that customers still use their TFI Leap Card.

For the past several months, we have run a full service of buses across all our routes, and it has been heartening to see increasing numbers of passengers making journeys. We are hopeful that with the increase to one hundred percent onboard capacity, we can play our part in facilitating a sense of normality returning to communities across Dublin."

We expect some of our services to become busier as schools and third level institutions return to on-site learning, so to avoid busy services please travel outside peak times and plan ahead your trip.
