Go-Ahead Ireland Celebrates Record-Breaking Interest in Apprenticeships for the Second Consecutive Year
1 month ago
Go-Ahead Ireland (GAI) is thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, we have experienced an unprecedented level of interest and applications in recruitment for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeships.
With over 325 applicants for the program, which is ran in conjunction with Generation Apprenticeship, we have seen over 100% year-on-year growth in applications for the second year in a row.
This summer, our first cohort of 4th-year apprentices will complete their apprenticeship. Additionally, we will welcome four new apprentices to our Dublin depots.
GAI is a fantastic place for those looking to do their apprenticeship. We are proud to highlight Cian O'Callaghan, who was awarded the 2024 accolade of Apprentice of the Year for Motor, by Generation Apprenticeship. Those joining this year will benefit from the expertise of seasoned Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, the fresh perspectives of recent graduates who have demonstrated exceptional skill and excellence, as well as our current 2nd and 3rd year apprentices.
Gary Bond, Engineering Director of Go-Ahead Ireland, said: “For the second year in a row, we have seen a noticeable increase in applications for this opportunity. This demonstrates the level of interest in both joining the industry as well as doing so with Go-Ahead Ireland, who throughout the last few years and since our establishment have consistently provided excellent opportunities, support for career development, and industry investment.
As with all Go-Ahead Ireland team members, we are committed to both investing in and providing them with everything they need to develop their careers.”
In addition to our apprenticeship program, Go-Ahead Ireland is actively recruiting Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our Dublin and Kildare teams, with a starting base salary of €50,741 (39-hour work week, not including Sunday rates, overtime opportunities, and tool allowance scheme).
We are also recruiting both trainee and experienced bus drivers with the opportunity to join several depots throughout the Greater Dublin Area - Dublin 12, Dublin 15*, and North Wicklow*.
*Due to open in Q3/Q4 2025. Training/Work opportunities provided in Dublin 12 until transfer.
