14th June 2024 – Go-Ahead Ireland, a leading public transport bus operator in the greater Dublin area, is looking to recruit more female drivers during a recruitment open day at their Ballymount depot on Tuesday, 25 June from 10:00 – 12:00 and from 13:00 – 15:00.
On the day, attendees will meet current female drivers and supervisors who will share their experience of working at Go-Ahead Ireland. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask the wider female management team (Human Resources, Operations, Training) about rosters, benefits, and the process of becoming a professional bus driver, as well anything else that they would like to know about working in the public transport sector.
Interested candidates can interview on the day they attend, needing only to bring their CV and, if applicable, proof of their right to work in Ireland.
Ciara Gallagher, Head of People at GAI, said: “At Go-Ahead Ireland, we are dedicated to investing in every colleague's success by providing comprehensive training and building their confidence for a rewarding career.
“New drivers joining our team will benefit from paid training, regardless of their previous licence type. Our program includes a week of classroom learning, four to six weeks of hands-on bus training followed by route learning and mentoring with our operations team.
“We support our drivers every step of the way, ensuring they are fully prepared for their “Go-Live” moment, and new hires will receive all the materials and guidance needed to pass their driving test.
“Aligned with our parent company, the Go-Ahead Group, and their Go-Ahead Women initiative, we are committed to the goal of recruiting and training 1,500 new female bus drivers across their international operations by 2025.”
