Empowering Women to Take the Wheel

Go-Ahead Ireland is proud to host its first Women Recruitment Day of 2025, a dynamic and inspiring event designed to encourage more women to consider a career as a professional bus driver. Whether you're changing careers or exploring new opportunities, this event is your chance to discover how Go-Ahead Ireland supports women in transport and why this could be the perfect next step for you.

Why Attend?

It’s a great time to join Go-Ahead Ireland! We’re expanding across the Greater Dublin Area, with new depots opening in North Wicklow and Dublin 15 by the end of 2025. These will join our existing depots in Ballymount (Dublin 12) and Naas (Co. Kildare), supporting our continued growth and commitment to serving more communities.

Whether you're exploring a new career or looking for a fresh start, this event is designed to show you what’s possible - and how we’ll support you every step of the way.

  • No experience needed - we’ll train you from the ground up.
  • Meet real drivers - speak with women who started just like you and have grown into new roles, like Adriana Constantin, now Operations Manager for Dublin.
  • Try it out - get behind the wheel in a safe, supervised test drive.
  • Explore your future - learn about career progression, benefits, and how we support women in transport.

What Does It Mean to Be a Go-Ahead Woman?

Being a Go-Ahead Woman means more than just driving a bus - it’s about building a career with purpose, progression, and community impact. As a Trainee Bus Driver, you’ll receive full training, earn while you learn, and join a team that values inclusion and growth. With depots across Greater Dublin and new locations opening in 2025, there’s never been a better time to get started.

What to Expect

Welcome Talk & Presentation

Kick off the day with a warm introduction from female members of our management team, who will guide you through the event and share Go-Ahead’s mission to drive change in the transport industry.

Panel Talk: Real Stories from Female Drivers

Hear firsthand from our amazing female drivers as they share their journeys, challenges, and triumphs. Learn what inspired them to join, how they trained, and what advice they have for newcomers.

You’ll also have the chance to speak with some of our female colleagues who began their journey as bus drivers - just like the role you would be starting in - and have since progressed into new roles across our very progression-friendly company.

One inspiring example is Adriana Constantin, who started as a driver and is now Operations Manager for Dublin, overseeing a team of over 500 people.

👉 Want to hear from some of our female drivers before the event? Explore their stories here:

  • Read about Viorica - 3 years of service, from hotels and housework to highways and personal growth.
  • Read about Alma - 2 years of experience, from carpentry and catering to confidence behind the wheel.
  • Read about Holly – 1 year of experience, from horse-drawn carriages to driving buses, embracing new challenges and gaining confidence on Dublin’s roads.

Supervised Test Drive

Get behind the wheel! For those who want to try it out on the day, there is an optional test drive with an approved driving instructor in one of our own training double-decker buses - all within the safety of our depot (not out on the road). It’s a great way to experience the driver’s seat in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Optional 1-1 Interviews

Ready to take the next step? Sit down with our recruitment team for a personal chat about your goals and how we can help you get started.

📋 Not sure what to bring on the day? All you need is your CV (optional), proof of right to work (if required), passport, and any relevant driving licence information.

Goody Bags & Feedback

Before you leave, pick up a specially curated goody bag filled with informative take-home materials about the role, including key benefits, training details, and next steps in the application process.
